DON QUIXOTE
I am DON QUIXOTE
I am quixotic
I am my own soliloquy
With circuitous logic
I am of La Mancha
I am the renowned Knight Errant
I am known and beyond the
Pale of the apparent
I am a waterfall of misunderstandings
I wear my best positive delusions
Dressed up in goofy mishandlings
I insist on sharing my living illusions
My brain has dried up
From too many hero stories, reading
Knights tales overflowing my cup
Sipping out of my mind exceeding
I am chasing giants (actually windmills)
I am guided by what I call good fortune
You are following me over the hills
On through adventurous misfortune
I, Don Quixote
I am maddest of them all
My journeys are written as parody,
Poetry, books, retellings and song
I see life as it should be, not as it is
So I am fighting enchantments
For my dearest Dulcinea I am a paladin
I have a lot of uncommon sense
I am trialing by error
I am learning something as the road’s met
Following self referential meta-lore
Thou hast seen nothing yet
I am a translation of a story you heard
I am inspiring many copies, even a musical
I am long winding satire twisting lines blurred
Dominos cascade of gags starting setup simple
I am becoming more like Sancho Panza
Sancho Panza is becoming more like me
Since human affairs end just like this stanza
My story ends too, as Don Quixote.
